I am not an expert of the area but my common knowledge says that we are slowly moving to use more solar energy.In our campus we are currently using 10% solar energy.

You just go through the paper titled "Comparison of options for distributed generation in India" by respected Rangan Banarjee sir (Prof. of IITB). He has explained some mathematical terms to forecast the future DGs in India. He has predicted in 2004 about the future DGs capacity in India in 2015. And the entire digits are correct. If your question is "How much can...."then answer is 100% can be supplied by RRs...but if the question is "how much is planned or targeted then answer is on MNRE website that about 175GW is target by 2022 hence it may be ~300GW by 2025 (mainly solar & wind)  !!!

If coal and fossil fuels are still used in 2025, then the sea level would be so much higher that millions of people would have moved to higher elevations. Hopefully, renewables would be the only method used by then.

You also need a method to divert two potential fatal asteroids "visiting" in 2028/2029.

I do not think so much change. It will be a more high in Renewable Energy but other case it is the same.

The whole world is looking for more and more use of renewable energy resources mostly Wind Energy and Solar Energy. The ultimate sources of energy on the earth is the Sun. So, utilizing solar energy directly for our energy requirement is possible the best choice for us.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Barack Obama promised to create a federal Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) that will require 25 percent of American electricity be derived from renewable sources by 2025.

If there were doubts that renewable energy sources could ever compete effectively with oil, natural gas and coal in power generation, developments in the past two years should have dispelled them! But, what will it take for renewable energy to become the primary form of energy consumed?

The Lloyd's Register 2018 Technology Radar - Renewable Energy study, published today, asks the question: when will renewable energy become the dominant source of energy? Furthermore, the study examines which technologies are likely to have the greatest impact in different countries, and what are the key drivers and inhibitors for success.

Key findings include:

• Respondents expect grid parity for solar to be achieved first in China (2022), followed by Spain and UAE in 2024, and by Australia and the US in 2025. For wind power generation, grid parity is expected in Germany and UK by 2024, USA and Denmark in 2025, and in Sweden by 2033.

• Although a minority of respondents (10%) believe that renewables have already overtaken fossil fuels in their country, or will do so in the next two years, 58% believe that this milestone will not be reached until after 2025...

I newly made a study on the topic: From conventional to renewable energy transformation challenge. Based on current development rate of the pv power stations i estimated the expected future growth rate of such energy technology. The growth rate of the expected pv electricity prosecution will double every three years a similar law comparable to the Moore law fro the doubling of the transistors on the chip for the integrated circuits. This growth will be led by China and USA.

I think it is a good chance for me to introduce this paper in this forum.

On June 29, 2016, the three NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) leaders agreed to up the renewable energy sourcing target from the 37 percent agreed in 2015 to 50% by 2025..
