I want to deposit thin film of P3HT using spin coating method. My first question is for how long should we stirrer P3HT solution in dichlorobenze? Secondly I need to know how many times should I spin coat my sample to get film of thickness approximately equal to 100nm?
Hello, the stirring time depends on the molecular wieght of the P3HT sample. High molecular weights (say ~90k) are usually difficult to dissolve, but moleculer weights of ~50 - 70 k should dissolve within a day or two even without heating the solution at around 60-700C. With regards to thickness, you won't be able to spin coat a layer the active layer on top of an already coated active layer (if that is what your asking) as DCB will dissolve the already coated layer. But to be honest, 20mg each of p3HT and PCBM spin coated at spin speeds between 700 - 800 rpm usually leads to thickness of ~ 200 nm so all you really need to do is increase the spin speed to chieve the desired thickness. Is there any particular reson why your looking at 100 nm for P3HT:PCBM?
i used to do in DCB stirring 1 hour at 45C, then spin coat at 2500 rpm to get 75 nm, in nitrogen glovebox

What the effect if we take longer time in stir P3HT: PCBM and heat at 60 degree celsius? What is the effect heating p3ht pcbm in preparation p3ht pcbm?
