I want to protect a part of FTO for the cathode connection. I usually use spin coater to deposit thin films. To save some region of FTO for the connection , I used Teflon tape but it did not work for me. At high rpm solution which I put on FTO passed through the Teflon tape to the region which I wanted to save. Kindly suggest me any other alternative for this which I can use without damaging the FTO?
You can use photo resist. Dip a cotton swab in resist and cover the contact area by… later when you are done with Film wipe it with acetone…but possible If and only if acetone does not smear to film side which may damage the Film.
- How large is the region you want to save ?
- Which type of film precursor (metal oxide slurry ?)
Photoresist is ok, but the cheapest option is to use transparent nail varrnish. it can be carefully removed later using a cotton tip with acetone. Try a good varnish that dries fast.
Just use scotch tape to cover your area and remove it after coating. Covered area can be cleaned using acetone. !!!!
In find the suggestions of photo resist and nail varnish are the best way, and definitely as suggested by Caballero-Briones, nail varnish, or even nail polish is cheapest option. You should also it dry up.
Hopefully the solution you are spinning does not attack the nail polish, or the nail varnish.
