I carried out I(V) characterization of my device, In dark the device showed diode like behavior while in light curve shifted to the first quadrant , what would be the reason for this? normally in light solar cell I-V curve shifts to the fourth quadrant .
It depends on your connections and convention of current direction you use. Please observe that common convention for solar cells is to treat them as sources therefore the direction of current wrt voltage is reversed.
However, if you want to get more exact explanation please atach your dark and illuminated IV curves.
I agree with Michal. It depends on the conventions you use to define the quadrants. What sort of cell is it? The shape of the curve under light may not be identical to the shape in the dark.

I agree with the two RG colleagues before me. In order to comment on your curves, it is required to see them.
Assuming the dark current is in the first quadrant, and the light current shifts even further into this quadrant, you may be looking at a photodoping effect in your electrodes. As the previous posters have said though, it would be easiest to attach images of the I(V) curves.
