As we all know that when we have only 10 or less sheets of graphite its basically graphene . And for intercalation the more intercalation sites available the better the battery is , so why people are running after graphene as an electrode material when it has a very few layers .
In addition to the "buzz-word" appeal of incorporating graphene into battery materials, there are substantial differences between graphene and graphite with respect to their physical and chemical properties. However, there is need for caution when evaluating the graphene literature. For example, though pure graphene was touted as an excellent "metal-free" electrocatalyst for the last few years, these findings were recently shown to be the result of metal impurities:
