The conductivity due to NaCl in aqueous solution is electrical. The conductivity is attributed to size, charge, ionic mobility and transport number of ions concerned. Sodium ions are monovalent, small sized and therefore have reasonable rate of migration unlike chloride ions which are comparatively larger in size, monovalent and have lower rate of migration and in turn conductivity.

NaCl is in principle good electrolyte, but for aluminum and its alloys many problems arise. First, usual at ph ~7 Al is in passive state, so the potential is to high to obtain any reasonable cell voltage. Second, if you anodically dissolve Al, the gelatinous hydroxo Al(OH)3 will formed, which make a real mess in the cell, blocking the anode surface and precipitate on the cathode.

Branimir N. Grgur Thank you soo much sir for your answer . In my experiments now i understood the exact problem i was facing from your answers . So according to you in such batteries where one on the electrodes is completely made of aluminum what electrolyte shall i go with .

For the aluminum batteries usually alkaline electrolytes is used 0.1 -1 M, in some cases 30 wt..% KOH

please look the paper I'm sending via message, but for your private use only. Electrolytes are on the end of the paper. I'm not shour on which All battery you are working. All air or some new kind Al-ion? that should use different kind of the electrolyte.

As Branimir N. Grgur mentioned, your main issue here, Aman Singhal would be a reversible electrodeposition of Al, due to the passivating layer it forms. That's the reason why research in Al-graphite batteries is traditionally confined with chloride-based ionic liquid electrolytes.
