Many mails, alerts come to Your inbox informing You about publication uploads, messages, shared questions, new answers to your questions as well as to questions You follow,papers requests, new followers...! What is Your approach? How fast Your response is?
I do consider myself fast in the most of responses. If I am in time shortage, then I do answer all the request, messages..., and answers to the questions is the last in the raw! Mobile app. for Researchgate would be very helpful regarding faster response!

All of us should put all our effort to see that Research Gate do great things for the community.If you are a member of research gate do not think of what you get in return rather do your duty knowing that good can be achieved by your action.This thinking will take social values to the next level.Thus we will step into ideal society.I try my best to answer all the request sent via research gate. .

It is an excellent question. In my case I try my best as possible as I can try to answer and response to most of required requests as I could.
The fastest I'm replying for personally sent questions. I'm also
basically reading responses, and opinions shared by others. This take time as well as reading papers. Some of questions I only vote, although I would like to answer. Reality calls on.
It is true that I receive a substantial amount of emails on a daily basis. However, as a researcher, I tend to answer the questions and requests that are relevant to my research area, interests and competencies. Sometimes, I do not answer all the requests I get, and I guess it goes both ways. I am certain that we all have other commitments and responsabilities that take up the biggest chunk of our time. And it goes without saying that the scientific maturity and multiculturalism of our members supports this assertion.
It is always enriching to get different perspectives on a specific question and there are absolutely no obligations. This is the beauty of Researchgate.
As an average,I spend around two hours of time on replying messages, reading and answering requests on the Researchgate. I think I still need more time.
I am trying to respond at least in 24 hours, otherwise everything is already past. Of course I do not always achieve this goal, but I am trying to. I think it compensates my time and I do not complain for participating in RG.
Late start in following the question which implies that there were already 20-30 answers, means hard to follow and sometimes is better not to take part in!
24 hour a day seems too small to perform all our daily professional activities, family responsibilities and answering all requests and responses to RG and to our emails. I try my best to manage time to response ASAP to the questions that interests me. There is no fixed time that I spend everyday, rather I take it recreational and check my inbox and response frequently.
Due to a significant time difference between us residing in different continents most of the time when I woke up found myself with lot more questions and requests through RG and most of the questions either have already been answered extensively or someone wrote the answers similar what I could think and write. I simply follow these and keep me informed and response to the sender either through personal message or by upvoting the question.
Before I uploaded most of the full texts for my papers I used to get lot more requests for articles, now I get only for some of my papers which are not available through my RG page.
Usually I react only to these questions, on which I have some kind of opinion already formed. Taking into consideration time shift between other responses, I am trying to provide response in 24 hours, if I have one. The next reaction usually depends if additional clarification is required or if discussion goes in different direction than initially intended.
I have many activities at the university and connection speed and capacity is limited in my country, so I do my best effort to answer as quickly as possible.
It is very important to stay updated on the responses and opinions to enrich our knowledge.
Moreover, as we must communicate in english and I speak spanish, this also affects the speed of communication.
It is the age of overwhelming communications and interconnection, just deal with it like posts on walls, you will stop to have a look on something with attractive heading, something in your interest area or something you wait for. Thanks. @AlDmour.

Excellent question. It is often a problem. If you are active you get more responses. If you answer all of them promptly, you get many more responses. Since you are committed to it, would like to answer as fast as possible.
It is a great educational experience discussing with many of your peers, so you are tempted to respond as fast as possible. We also feel that are we should contribute our knowledge to the people who will need it. So faster response is always appreciated. I try my best to respond as quickly as possible.
Incredibly wonderful question and good genuine answers. I agree with @ Amritlal Mandal that at times you are too busy working and do not log on to RG . Looking at it on a regular basis becomes tedious. @ Nageswara Posinasetti is centum right. I get time to answer all those questions which have been shared occasionally. Its not a matter of being inactive, its the matter of time constraint for many who are working full time.
Well, I am not that famous on RG. So, don't have to face that much inflow of notifications. For now, easy to respond fast.
Nice answer Darasingh; it'll be applicable to me too may be for the next few years. I can respone to all possible messages and updates. But there are some days when I can just open RG but cannot go through these updates.

I am glad you raised this issue. This is everyone's problem. I feel, we are blessed if we have so many queries and notifications from RG and colleagues. This is more so for those who enjoy discussing issues and want to know more and more or what what we sometimes call "concern for detail." But since we all have limitations of time, we can adjust our settings to the effect that we stop receiving many notifications that are obviously there in our mails. That reduces the pressure; which is what I do. I liked your approach of responding fast to the mails and queries from fellow researchers. This is what I also do.
I agree Meena. The question of availability of time, time differences, and logging to RG are the constraints. During working days, I normally keep my desktop computer logged in continuously and as and when some window of time is available, have a quick glance at your live feed. During the weekends it is going to be difficult, as you are not close to your desktop for good part of time.

My answer is definitely no. Nevertheless I keep watching RG as frequently as possible and try to comment questions where I feel I can help. Sometimes I have no chance to even look at the acual topics, sometimes I have 10-30 minutes to do so. That's life, but the forum proved to be useful for me so far. Gyorgy

I am really struggling with this situation every day. And found that if i failed to open RG notifications through my mail box, I do not receive further mails/notifications in my mail box. In such cases I have to track back those questions. Some times I could not keep a track also. Though I try my best to reply/open those notifications to all my might but really find short of time or may be we have to limit our domain of questions.
I have noticed that in mobile with all sincere feelings, I up-voted a question but application suddenly picks up "downvote". So I stopped using mobile phone for RG notifications
@Ravi, I do have 1020 processed messages in my archive. I do not have any non-replied message! To act promptly is a solution, but there is not always available time for!
Regarding using mobile for RG, someone should finally make mobile application for RG!

So as soon as I could, I upvoted again from my computer, and it changed from a down vote to an upvote. It was on Prof Abdalla's answer, so I sent him a message to apologize. Now I'm AFRAID to upvote on the mobile.
The next thing was I bought a mobile wifi, a huddle. In 15 days, I finished using the 1 month quota of 2G, and now, the speed is really slow. So I have come to conclusion that we can only do our best...
Very appropriate question :)) All of us are so busy in various activities that we hardly find any time outside the routine. But RG has become like a friend circle. One cannot but resist replying. I do so, whenever I can squeeze some time for it and for that my I-phone has helped me tremendously :))
I really admire RG for the tremendous contribution made in communicating with all its members . I agree that it is difficult to keep pace with this information & I take my time in deciding which question , I need to answer as soon as possible . I spend a lot of time reading answers , which are very informative & give replies based on my personal professional experience . I spend a lot of time reading new articles & also noting the contribution of followers . I need to bookmark all the important articles , I read & find time to upvote good answers & articles . This new responsibilities which RG has introduced on individual researchers is exiting , but also creates new methods to participates in research . The message is the individual recognition given to researchers & get their personal views on scientific matters . It is ultimately left to us to find the time to make the best use of this great opportunity .
@S. El. Aleem and all, I agree with all the views stated. Some of you are a lot faster than me. Please, let's bear with one another because there are so many duties that aren't related to research that we CAN'T neglect.....

But we have to be careful that interaction with family members exceed the time we spend on RG. They are really important in my life. I have no time for FB, LI, AE etc...
I try to answer ASAP, sometime with some additional information/ explanation to help each other

It is really difficult to follow each and every mail alerts. I am very selective in responding to such alerts. Most often I respond to responses to my own thread and any other thread where I find that I can contribute meaningfully without compromising my own academic activities.
