How easy is this to do for someone who has never done this before? We have plenty of experience culturing cells but how easy is it to recognize when it has worked? And does anyone have a simple, detailed protocol for us to follow?
We use episomal vectors from addgene, cheap, easy and you get lots of colonies.

You have experience culturing cells, but do you have experience culturing iPS cells? They are quite different. If you do not have such experience, then you should obtain some from someone else and learn how to maintain them before attempting to make your own. Otherwise, this could be a wasted effort if you make them but cannot properly expand, maintain, or freeze them.
