How does sodium citrate impact alginate beads?

I am working on microencapsulation of gallic acid with sodium alginate and when I dissolve beads in sodium citrate I have no antioxidant activity. Because of that, I was wondering how sodium citrate impact antioxidant activity of alginate beads and is there another way of dissolving alginate beads and still have antioxidant activity?
