Attached is the current model I have. I wish to extrude the surface that would be made from the edge to the highlighted (blue) line, radially inward, removing solid. No matter which option I seem to try however, it seems to consistently make slices through my structure. How would I go about such an endeavour? Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

I tried the method you've shared, and I think there's progress. The Freeze tool is quite an interesting tool; didn't know it even existed. So I froze the model, and then performed a, 'Thin' on the outer circle. My objective would be to extrude inward, everything above the newly created line.
The problem is, I can only highlight the face (shown in the 4th image) to extrude, if I choose not to preserve body. If I choose this option however, it removes everything inside, and all I'm left with is the ring.
So even if, let's say, I choose the option not to preserve body, and I'm able to highlight the ring: I'd cut the material shown in image 3 (which is exactly what I want!), but when I unfreeze, I get nothing close to what I need (including the fact that the entire internal part of the body is missing). So that's what I've managed to try so far, I'd be interested to see what people think.
