After a novel synthesis method of a compound, I have found it as layered structure when I observed in SEM. This material was not having the layer structure before synthesizing it with the novel method. After the reaction, It has turned into perfect cube shaped material.
Now, what can be added as new catalytic properties apart from a better surface area? Thank you in advanced.
i think the catalytic activity had a lot to do with surface area of the material. if each layer of ur material is in nano range thickness, then defnitely it will enhance the catalytic activity, rather than in case of circular or trangular os spherical shape of same material. layered structures have more surface area.

The catalytic activity of the material definitely depends on the surface area of the material. However, the geometry of the material is dependent on the organisation of the layers. The crystalline materials show higher catalytic activity and orthorhombic nature of the materials emerge as most effective catalysts. So, to determine the structure of the material synthesised, I would recommend doing XRD analysis of the material. The conclusion that you have drawn from the SEM analysis is not enough to support your claim and it is not the exact method to give such conclusion.

Dear Sumit, Thanks for reply. Yes, i have done the XRD for the normal synthesis but havent yet for the new method. As well as, i have given for BET. Lets see what we can do further.

After doing the XRD analysis you have to calculate the values of crystalline size by Scherrer Eq. and also identify the type of crystalline structure by satisfying the Braggs law.
