I often have students look up things that are in the news such as the latest security breach or the latest on a topic on a subject. Remember our textbooks are dated as soon s they are published thus I use it to add more up-to-date infromation.
Using internet during a class can be distractive especially with lower classes so be careful.

I do allow my students to use the internet in the class for our class discussions. However, I also sometimes notice that a few students exploit the use of internet in the classroom and start chatting or do nonacademic activities.
We need some immediate information to improve some information to the students within the lecture.

Of course internet useful for teaching in classes it is use as supporting tools.
The technology of education (Internet in class for example) does not mean just the use of modern machines and devices, but primarily means the introduction of the method of systems, which is a method of work going in organized steps, and uses all the possibilities offered by technology according to theories of teaching and learning.
We should use the internet in class but not the primary student for higher student it may be helpful for not in their study but also for acquiring the good knowledge for his career & life .At the same time it become the duty of institute to see that Internet may not be abused in any way by the student .
This is my personal opinion
Depending on the level of the students' exposure. Most illustrations at the very senior level could be easier when a detail, or two are looked up online. Instances abound where a trial to explore the internet in class revealed that most senior students do not know how to search information therein. This could be a problem during their research.
