"How do you think we should use technology/the Internet in class?”Does it motivate your students?"-- You ask.
I think that technology/internet is a double-sword regarding its role in the process of teaching/learning. On the one hand, technology and internet can be a tool to motivate students in that they become aware that they can made use of it to get desirable and useful information. However, students can also make use of technology and internet as a tool to play with. Viedeo-games are a telling example. I think that it incumbs upon teachers to do their best such that their students make use of technology more as a tool to learn than a tool to play with. Note also that is often the case that students may learn when playing challenging games, like chees, to develop their criativity and thinking.
Paul: I think we (teachers) should be careful how we use the internet and technology in class. It may also depend on the major. In my opinion, there can be too much technology. We should limit its use and focus on the lesson at hand.
It is also very distracting when the technology doesn't work. It is best to have a back-up plan in case the internet or technology fails you.
I also think that we, professors, should pay pay attention to how we use the internet and technology in class. As I see it, the internet and technology in class is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, technologies offer students a possibility of getting information other than that delivered by professors. On the other hand only professors can give human feedbcak to their students
