Working at an farm in the Dominican Republic that has a commercial scale floating raft aquaponic system. The system is poorly maintained and water quality parameters are scarcely recorded. The roots are covered in a brown slimy substance that I believe to be root rot. Is there any other explanation for the presence of brown on the roots and if it is root rot what is the best course of action to eradicating it.

It's probably an off-label application, but treatment with a systemic oomyceticide like metalaxyl should probably do the trick. It should be available as a wet-able powder and is used as s seed treatment to control downy mildews in cereals. One commercial product that should be available in the Dominican Republic is Syngenta's ApronStar 42 WS. You will need to take care not to harvest for at least 45 days after the single-time treatment. A practicing plant pathologist with experience with this product should be consulted before trying this.

My be the root dont havent suficiently aereation. My by use Trichoderma or Bacillus subtilis for stop infection and promoting grow roots. This activity increasing too the yield.
we have used Trichoderma harzianum successfully in hydroponics systems for indoor plants, where Pythium was the dominant pathogen.
