I am trying to compare the invasiveness among to cell types I am working with via a transwell invasion assay. I am used to counting manually under the microscope, something which I think can be unreliable sometimes and takes too much time. Can you recommend other reliable methods of quantification that can be done easily? Thank you.

Hi, I normaly take 4-5 images of different areas of each transwell and the replicates as well and use Nikon Elements software to do the object count. I am not sure if you have access to the Nikon Elements analysis software. If you have Nikon microscope, it should hae the software. As other have said, Image J is also another option which is free but you cannot automate if you have lots of images. With Nikon, Once you create object analysis file, you can use a "Macro" which can automate the counting of images and gives you the count in a excel.
