How do I improve the peak shape and resolution in this region of the chromatogram?
Analytes are volatiles in the headspace of rice. Column is DB-Wax-- a column reported to be successful in separating rice VOCs. In this region, temperature in the programming is already held constant. Increasing the split ratio only decreases the signal and does not separate the peaks from one another (shown in the diagram as superimposed chromatograms).

I would use a longer column (more theoretical plates) or try 2D-chromatography (see here: https://www.agilent.com/en/technology/multidimensional-gas-chromatography)

If your analysis is purely GC, I think both Markus and Paulo's suggestions are worth trying. Also, what is the injection method? Split/splitless? On-column? If you're using split/splitless, you may try increasing the split if you have enough sample and analyte. If you're doing on-column, you can try trimming the column on the injector end a little, though the peaks in the later portion of the chromatogram suggest that the column may not need trimming. The peaks of interest also seem to come fairly soon after what appear to be solvent peaks. If the peaks up to 3.0 min RT are not of interest, I suggest putting a delay on the detector to start at 3.0 min. Other things to check would be the integrity of the septum and the cleanliness of the injection liner. Also, if there is another kind of analyzer attached, e.g., a mass spectrometer, there may be some other options.
