I need a quick step by step guide to perform static and dynamic simulation for blood flow in an artery in Fluent. I am a total novice with the software and the topic, and the user's guide is really complicated for me.
In the work tree you should select "General" and inside this topic you have one box whose name is "Time", here you select "Steady" if is a static simulation and "Transient" if is a dynamic simulation. After that you have to set some parameters associated with your case, if it is a dynamic simulation you must define the time step, number of iterations... which vary case to case.
The FLUENT User's Guide and Tutorial Guide can be a good help to you, these manuals give to you a list of topics to proceed well.

A good tutorial for new Fluent users is the "mixing elbow" (available at http://www.engineering.leeds.ac.uk/cfd/people/documents/tut01.pdf), since it explains step-by-step the complete procedure from the geometry and mesh generation to the final solution. It also deals with mixing of liquid having different temperatures, which is probably not required in your case, but anyway the tutorial is a good starting point to get familiar with the software - at least in my opinion. Nevertheless, it's highly recommended to understand the underlying physics and mathematics if you want to proceed. In particular for modelling blood flow in arteries, I assume that Non-newtonian fluid properties, particle-fluid interactions, wall functions etc. may have influence on your results (depending on the results you want to get).

at first define your geometry, the easiest software is Gambit, it should be noted that joint of vessels, and bent and wall friction are the most important terms
then you need to think about it that how much you can make your assumption easy.
1Does the walls of vessel has permeation capability?
2what is the regime of flow?it is defined by Reynolds number, which is a function of velocity, diameter, viscosity and density
3 is blood's properties, (viscosity and density and composition) costant?
If you don't want to learn CFD, every CFD student may do it easily

Dear Patricia, if I understood you are begin in computational fluid mechanics, isn't? All the answers are very helpful to you. But is fundamental to have a solid, or at least, a minimal knowledge about the theory. I advise you to study also the Finite Volume Method, some topics about linear Álgebra to understand how the solver works. This will give a solid fundament to your work, and you will be more confident with your future results. ANSYS CFX is other good and easier than FLUENT to use. Avoid to use a commercial simulator as a 'black box' .
You can decribe you problem in more details as geometry, conditions , what do you want as velocity profiles, pressure drop, forces, drug delivery, etc? The setup can be easy or a hard.
If you have theoretical questions, you can contact me in box. I 'll be happy to help you in what you need. I've attached a paper regarding to blood cells flow into a capillary vessel. It is in Portuguese, but is easy to translate and any doubt, you may ask me.
