I want to simulate thermal stress of SiO2 generated from temperature source like heaters by joule heating.
I have model where SiO2 membrane has heater on top. Because of heater temperature the thermal stress should come in SiO2 membrane. Can anyone give idea of how to calculate thermal stress by CoventorWare or Comsol. I am stuck in both simulation.

There should be no problem simulating that on Comsol, if you have a separation between the heater and the membrane be sure you have a box of air (or your medium). If you want to try a first approach to see what is wrong with your model try to add a thermal source in some boundary just to check if the stress is produced (it should be). Only then take a step further and add the joule heat source.

I believe you need to add a subnode under linear elastic material called thermal expansion. By adding this node, your material will require a volumetric expansion rate dependent on temperature. This variable /constant is well tabulated in literature. Once added run the study and the generate stress due to thermal expansion will be provided. One more thing, when you run the solid mechanics and heat transfer physics together, make sure you have a fully coupled solver to ensure convergence.

Thank you very much for reply. I got simulation with CoventorWare, but not with comsol. I will try to do same with comsol to verify my results.
