Our microfluidic devices are highly reusable because we reversibly seal them to glass slides each time we use them instead of irreversibly sealing. This allows us to peel the device off and remove debris and/or contaminants by directly rinsing and cleaning the patterned side of the PDMS device instead of cleaning by flowing solution through the channels. We prefer not to store them reversibly sealed to glass slides because the seal strengthens over time and could potentially cause the delicate features to break when peeled off. Currently we cover the patterned side of the device with scotch magic tape, which prevents excessive oxygen and moisture exposure to the channels and does not leave behind any residue. I am reevaluating how we store our devices because the tape storage seems wasteful and cumbersome. I would like to hear how other people store reusable PDMS microfludic devices. Thank you.
