May I share some opinions with you that may help you to implement your routing protocol on a small microcomputer like a raspberry Pi:

The computer memory must be able to accommodate the program and data.

The processing speed must be sufficient to execute the processing in the intended time that is in the real time.

So, you can choose an advanced type of a Raspberry bi.

The other solution is to reduce the size of the program and data to a minimum

such that it could be implemented in such microcomputers.

Try to implement the protocol on such platform I think it will work as wireless sensor networks must work with microcomputers.

Thx Abdelhalim abdelnaby Zekry for your recommendations. I'll consider your tips with the RPi and its Raspbian OS.

I don't know if is it possible without OS!! But a sensor doesn't support software abstraction. What I'm looking for is the process to configure a MANET routing algorithm in a WSN network with limited number of 802.15.4 devices.

You need an operating system when you have more than one application on the computer. So, normally one uses for such small computers free real time operating systems free RTOS.
