Dear researchers.
I have to coat tablets with simethicone oil.
Since simethicone is too oily coating quality is very poor.
So, i thinking of adding surfactant. (SLS or tween)
The question is...
I use simethicone as an antifoarming agent, but I am concerned that adding a surfactant will reduce the antifoarming ability of simethicone.
Does really surfactant redue simethicone's antifoarming ability?

Yes simethiсone reduces the appearance of foam. In the pharmacy can be used for evaporation of extracts of medicinal plants, antibiotics eluates, in the analysis of lather foaming preparations. Silicone compounds are usually non-toxic.
I used to use it as antifoaming in tablet coating. Absolutely, you can use a surfactant in your coating as Polysorbates. In general, simethicone is not generally compatible with aqueous systems and will float like an oil on a formulation unless it is first emulsified. It should not be used in formulations or processing conditions that are very acidic (below pH 3) or highly alkaline (above pH 10), since these conditions may have some tendency to break the polydimethylsiloxane polymer.
