Do you know about any reference that could help me in fabricating some bipolar or tetrode electrodes? My aim is to measure the LFP / Spikes in deep brain structures in anesthethised rat, I have seen some expensive tetrodes sold by thomas recording but i look for some cheaper / DIY alternative. By the way have you notice of works measuring the LFP in Hypothalamus?

There are some DIY tetrodes systems if you have access to a 3D printer. For example:

If you are looking for something cheaper, you can make your multiple electrodes simply by rolling two or more wires together with a pair of tweezers. I use this technique in order to make bipolar electrodes for electrical stimulation or multiple LFP register electrodes. I use stainless steel fomvar coated wire from World Precision Instruments.
