A forest plot was generated from my meta-analysis, containing the study name and year. However, I would like the graph to be sorted or presented according to regions; this means that I need the pooled estimate of each region to be shown on the same graph, including the study name and year. I have a column for the regions in the data editor section but this was not shown on the result/output. What STATA command can I use to achieve this please? Thanks!

To sort the studies on the forest plot, you need to use sort command before running the metan command. to get the subgroups effect estimates and to show them in your forest plot you can use option by with metan command (To make the forest plot stratified by e_group, just add in the options: by(e_group)).

You can use : metan rr ll ul, random lcols (author year country ... ) by (region).
Thanks a lot for your replies! They were really helpful. One thing though... What command/syntax do I need to add to get shaded diamonds in the resulting forest plot? I tried boxsca (80) but it didn't work. Thanks again!
