Hello I have used GO as carbon source and solvents mixture of dmf and Ethanol to prepare GQDs, and I have heard that evaporating is one the way to remove dmf, but once I try it by heater stirrer and I couldn't see any precipitate, Can you offer me another way?
If evaporation does not give you a precipitate, try adding a non-solvent such as water or acetone to your DMF/ethanol solution. This can cause your product (such as GQDs) to precipitate out. After adding the non-solvent, mix well and then centrifuge or filter the solution to collect the precipitate.
if you want to evaporate first look at the boiling points. Due to its high polar interactions DMF has a high boiling point, much higher than ethanol, i.e., ethanol will evaporate, DMF will concentrate. Further, note that your particles will agglomerate by changing solvent composition and concentration.
