we prepared solid lipid nanoparticles using lipid, surfactant, co-surfactant and drug. all ingredients molecular weights i know but what is the molecular weight of final prepared solid lipid nanoparticles. please suggest techniques available to calculate or find out the molecular weight of such complex systems.
One of the variants. Centrifugation of particles in the solvent will help to separate them from unreacted components, and to assess molecular weight on the level of stratification. Then drip a drop in a Langmuir-Blodgett trough. The mass of the material in the droplet to estimate separately after drying drops. The area of the monomolecular film will allow to calculate approximately the amount, if to count. what of nanoparticles as a ball. Nice to see in ACM. Then compare with the theory.
With having mole percent of each ingredient in hand, simply use the following mixing rule:
Mw=x1*Mw1+x2*Mw2+...
Please note that the above mentioned formula will give you theoretical Mw. Because, in reality the reaction yield can be less than 100% . So, similarly you can perform Elemental Analysis (CHNSO) to obtain mass percentage of each element, then calculate the experimental Mw.
If the theoretical Mw is closer to the experimental Mw, then you can say the reaction was complete or the reaction was taken place stoichiometrically.

Agree with Michael particles what size ever have no molecular mass. Regarding the answer of Ali, yes, in every system one may determine an average molecular mass, maybe particle, droplet, solution or what ever. Likely, Raj has a special goal for what he wants to use it for. Would be good to know about it.
I am not a mathematician but can we calculate SLN molc. wt. using wt. of total pellet after centrifugation, size of pellet and size of each particle, or the molecular wight of components and surface area of particles?
