Currently we are planning to adjust implementation strategies in a Malaria endemic setting. Hence we need to identify critical bottlenecks that impede achieve malaria control, implementation research answers how interventions works in the real life, but, how could be used? what are the best methods to achieve that?
As a former malaria programme manger, I found that the best way to get evidence in action is through joint research team ie a team that involve researchers and programme staff. The 2nd example is the monitoring of insecticide resistance in which the research findings were used to guide the choice of insecticide.
I found the article entitled (Implementation research evidence uptake and
use for policy-making) useful. In implementation research the context for the research is often observing outcomes and/or behaviour in a real world setting with all potential stakeholders. Understanding the local context (politics, culture, legal framework, etc.) is very important. The research study needs to adequately understand and assess the importance of the variables rather than seek to control or remove them from the study context. You can choose to start with a small pilot applying Trials of Improved Practice (TIPS). and assess the bottlenecks. You can look it up on internet to see the best strategies that can be employed
Health promotion should be an integral part of the control of malaria under National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme. Because malaria is also due to the lifestyles of a particular group of the population. So if we want to control malaria then the principles of promoting health should be applied as part of the programme. Health promotion is not the right moral responsibility of the health sector only, but goes beyond promotion of healthy lifestyles to well-being.So when we undergo any research regarding the control of the malaria.
