In the field of research “The place of guide” is matchless. He is the man who directs us in proper direction and drives us to the goal of success. He is just like a “light house”. As the light house shows the path of the shore, the guide also paves the way for our success. In fact he is our friend philosopher and guide.

That is why in Indian philosophy a good teacher is considered to be a “Guru” and respected as a god. Students of all ages bowed their heads at the feet of their Guru. Let us also pay our respects to all the teachers, right from the stage of elementary school to the age of research achievements.
Being a good guide in a research team is certainly not easy, but requires experience and solid methodological knowledge. But it is wonderful when someone has these qualities.

A guide is an important resource which is very essential for the success of a good research. It may be in the form of human or non-human resource. A guide in human form is the supervisor of the research. He provides guidance and support to the researcher in the best way possible without unnecessarily interfering with the independence of the researcher's thoughts and ideas throughout the research process. In a non-human form, a guide may be a code book or format developed by the researcher's institution (e. g. the University) to provide timeline and direction (ethical, conceptual, etc) for the research as well as the presentation of the research report.
To dispel the darkness of fear & ignorance, and usher in the light of knowledge and motivation
For a particular individual having inclination to carry out research in a particular area, Guide is one who inspires, encourages, guides, review not just the research work concerned but the outcome or the result that has been brought out by the work concerned. A Guide should not only be well versed with the Subject concerned but also is expected to be like a mentor, who not just performs afore-stated tasks but also imbibes inspiration to his/her students/scholars to perform the research work independently.
