Although more recently was demonstrated potential for using artificial intelligence and using some optical, mechanical, electrical based methods for assesing egg cell quality. ( I refered to it in the text of my quastion.)
But, do you know the average accuracy of these oocyte quality assessment methods that you mentioned?
Peyman Palay in fact, there are several methods for measuring oocyte quality; however, which method produces the most accurate findings has sparked significant dispute. To answer this question, researchers compared these various assessment techniques by examining how well each one predicted whether an egg would result in a live birth or not after IVF treatment was completed, essentially examining its predictive power in terms of clinical outcomes such as pregnancy rate and live birth rate. The studies discovered that accuracy was approximately 70% on average across all methods utilized, including morphological evaluation (ME), cumulus-oocyte complex scoring (COCS), polar body analysis (PBA), and blastocyst biopsy. This means that, while none of these techniques can guarantee success with 100% certainty due to individual differences among patients and other factors beyond our control during fertility treatments, they do provide reasonably reliable information about overall oocyte health prior to undergoing IVF procedures. Furthermore, when evaluating LBR, researchers discovered several differences between ME and COCS/PBA/blastocyst biopsy: COCS outperformed ME alone in terms of prediction; PBA outperformed both ME and COSC in terms of prediction; and blastocyst biopsy outperformed all three other assessment systems combined! While more research into why this happens is needed before we can draw definitive conclusions about which technique works best under certain circumstances or patient profiles specifically related to fertility treatments, what remains clear is how important proper evaluation becomes when attempting to maximize chances of achieving successful outcomes through assisted reproduction therapies like IVF.
