Hello, I am a PhD student in geography and rural planning. I am at the stage of choosing the topic of my thesis. I need your help all over the world to choose the topic.
First, think about what phenomena in the world are interesting to you. Second, read widely in the literature while thinking if a paper's topic may be interesting to you and also worth further study. Third, go to conferences and seminars.
It would help if you studied widely in the area of Geography that interests you most. From the literature, you will be able to see research gaps that exist in your area of interest, and then zero on such areas. Furthermore, there is the need to consult your would-be advisor for assistance and guidance on the proposed focus of the research. Attendance at seminars/conferences/workshops will also help you to benchmark others and increase the network of experts that can be consulted.
Hello, I believe the first step is to read widely to secure an area of interest and venture into it. You have to know and like your research and in that way it will be easier to do well.
I would say: scientific relevance is key. Find a knowledge gap that your thesis can address so that your work adds upon the existing literature.
But personal motivation is just as important if not more - at least it was for me. You are going to spend four (?) years on this, you will struggle at some point. What topic really interests you? What motivates you to keep going? The more intrinsic your motivation, the more your topic drives you, the better you'll be able to keep going forward and not give up!
Hello. In fact, I am not suggesting a specific topic to you, but I advise you to search for a topic that might be occupying your mind, and that this concern could feed while you are working on it. Consequently, this topic might have a dimension or constitute a solution to a specific problem that extends over time and space and that requires considering certain concepts, such as respecting the specialty to which you belongs, the realism in trying to find solutions to a particular issue, validity, and so on. Good luck.
Hello. Take the topic for your PhD thesis "Features of key patterns and migration of rural population" in the region you are interested in. This applies both to geography and rural areas
