Sorry for the naivety of my question. I am looking forward to estimating the maximum power capacity of an optical waveguide, typically, Silicon (Si) or Silicon Nitride (SiN) waveguide. Is there some equation/reference chart or something that can help us theoretically estimate the maximum limit of the power that a specific waveguide can handle?

Maximum power obtained through the photonic wave-guide is really challenge as fiber has very less loss. But, there are many ways by which researcher are trying to deliver maximum power. Here, is simple equation by which one can find the power loss during propagation, Loss (dB) = 10log10 (e) · 4π · Im (neff )/λ.
Apart from the fabrication (roughness and all), we can try to find lower values of img(neff), by designing geometry with SMC from my opinion.

1.By the nature of your question, I have an opinion: something is not agreed in it, namely the area / technology of application of radiation with the need to indicate its maximum power value Popt.max. for SiO2, SiN waveguides...
2.It seems to me that for planar waveguides (for example, for them in optoelectronic ICs, etc. - see my publications) the Popt.max value not particularly important, since the signal should be transmitted (to the next processing stage) with minimal energy consumption at a given frequency, for example, 3GHz.
3.If these are fibers of the active medium (for lasers and erbium fiber amplifiers - EDFA), then I found the following description:
... "The fibers have been specially designed to efficiently combine the single-mode signal and high pumping power from the multimode diode into a double-clad passive fiber .... When using stepped fibers in CW mode, the output power reaches kilowatts with an angle of divergence limited only by diffraction In the pulsed mode, an average power of about 100 W can be achieved even for a femtosecond fiber laser "... If necessary, I will indicate a literary source (Russian).

If you know the maximum field strength the material can handle, then you can use the Poynting vector to work out the max power density.
Veer Chandra , thanks for the comment, but I am interested in the power handling capacity rather the loss in a waveguide.
Nick Proskurin, Thank you sir for the comment. Although the Pout for waveguides may not be that important, I have a special need to know how much power a waveguide could handle.
