Hi, multiple regression is used when we want to predict the value of a variable based on the value of two or more other variables, so no you cannot use it to measure the relationship between two independent variables only.

If you have interval level data, then what you can do is use Pearson's correlation coefficient to measure the strength of association between the two independent variables. Hope this helps.

In addition to your response, do I need to put an additional hypothesis stating that I'm assessing the strength between independent variables and that I'm also using Pearson's coefficient (in addition to regression) to do this, in the methods section?

hi Brian Fenech In any methods section you list all research methods used. there should also be a brief, concise description of how and what and why. You need somewhere to explain why you are invvestigatint the strength of association between the two independent variables. BW.
