How can researchers make their publications reachable to a wider community? How can they ensure more publicity to these articles and increse the impact of these articles. Please provide your remarks and guidelines.
I think the traditional way of putting articles in journals of high cost is a bit out of reach to the broad audience as it requires fees and special acquaintances to such sites. In order to maximize readers we have to go to where people are, if they are not coming to us, as we all tend to read what is put in front of our faces than searching for what to read.
Contemporary society lives in social media and in free access research sites and those information which are out there will have access by the majority. Platforms such as RG and other free access places are fertile grounds for scientific results to be posted and get accessed by vast readers.
To optimize the access rates, we have to give some kind of application our results have to real world problems or show how it extrapolates or strengthens an existing knowledge.
Yes. This question is very interesting. Firstly, what is a publication? Is it really bound only to the traditionally accepted way of writing and then submitting to one journal of your choice? Cannot also Blogs, LinkedIn comments, answers to questions in ResearchGate be considered as publication? Moreover, cannot every thought that you have and that passes your soul be considered a publication of your soul? But i wonder how such publications of thoughts could be measured and payed in a fair and decent way? Somehow, i think this challenge amounts to the so called "Mendikantenstreit" of some centuries ago, where mental caretakers and priests argued that they should receive better payment for their spiritual work.
Of course, also quality of publication is important. Would you prefer to go to a journal as usual or would you be more satisfied to go to one magician or priest who benedicts and consecrates your research and you do a confession at him to relieve yourself from the burden to publish yourself?...

Now standard journals are opting for open access. Open access journals may be more helpful for faster publication and getting more citations for one's publications.
