Hello everyone I need to simulate a counter-current flow between air and water droplets (in direct contact) which by evaporative cooling give rise to a cooling of the wall on which the droplets are deposited. I can't understand with Ansys Fluent (after trying them all) what is the way to get a possible simulation of this. Thanks for your help. Best regards. Denis Zordan
Hmm. You got quite a difficult problem to solve. I agree with Svetlana Tkachenko
, maybe with the addition to add on the wall a thin film model, where Lagrangian droplets are getting deposited. Film models in Fluent can (if I remember correctly) have a film evaporation term. If then the thin film model predicts the evaporative heat flux and latent heat of water evaporation correctly, and if you include a solid zone with conjugate heat transfer modeling into your simulation, than you could predict the cooling of the wall temperature due to this.All this depends a bit on the temperature level. I hope that you are not talking about the quenching of a 900 degree C hot Aluminum wall by water droplets? In this case the wall temperature would be larger than the Leidenfrost temperature of evaporation and things would become much more complicated, because under those conditions a water droplet would form a vapour film between itself and the very hot wall. A different model would be necessary to simulate this and this is the foremost front of boiling simulation, where no established (ready-o-use) models exist in any commercial solver, I guess.
