How can I prevent flocculation of Botryococcus Braunii in BG-11 medium?

We would like to measure the optical density (OD) by using UV-VIS sprectrophotometer, however the flocculation of B. braunii affects the OD. Therefore, we would like to prevent the flocculation in the culture.
