Accidentally air was sucked in by the pumpwash protocol as the pump inlet was not immersed in solvent. Currently the pump is not capable of sucking up solvent whaterver hard it tries. Could you please give me an advice how to re-introduce solvent in the tube system? Thanks in advance!

You can use a syringe and suck the air out of you system. There is an input in the front of the pump. Its straightforward and it has always worked out well for me.

Jacopo is right. It's called to "purge" the pump and with that key word you will find information in the manual and online.

Hi Jacopo and Sven! First of all, thanks for the comments! indeed for certain verisions of ACTA this is the right procedure. Unfortunately the system I have (ACTApurifier) is a rather simple version and does not contain this syringe assisted purging setup. I enclose the manual downloaded form GE webpage. I wonder what could be the solution in this case.

assuming that the pic on the manual is right:
4 shiny metal blocks at the lower front are the pumps.
atop of each pump there is an oval metal thingy with the syringe
port mounted on it.
Rotate the port to open it, insert the 25 cc
syringe and remove the air.

Hi!
First disconnect the system tube after the pump. Then try washing at 40-50 ml/min. If does not work, fill slowly the sucking tube with the solvent; then tray again washing. Be warry: set to waste not load! Good luck!
Instead of purging with buffer or water, you could use Methanol or Ethanol; it has different liquid properties and in most cases works better to get rid of air in systems.
