How can I demonstrate phagocytosis of apoptotic cells in vivo?

I have a protein which I think is involved in the clearance of apoptotic cells. I showed that its depletion increases the number of apoptotic cells, and that it colocalizes with apoptotic cells, however both results are only correlations. Does anyone know a method to actually show phagocytosis in vivo?

Hi, you can show that your cell actually go phagocytosis by marking the lysosomal removal of the cells using LysoTracker.
