I have a problem where I will need to convert micromoles per microliter into milligrams per milliliter. I am trying to scale up a solution where the original is 1μmol of Drug X in 5 μl ethanol. If I want to have a solution with 30 milliliters of ethanol, how many milligrams of Drug X will I need?

First you'll need to know the molecular weight of your compound.
1µmol/5µl = 1mol/5liters = 0.2 M solution for your ethanol stock.
Therefore: 0.2 x Mw(g/L) x 0.030(L) = xxx g of your compound that you'll have to dissolve in 30ml ethanol to reach 0.2M.

if 1μM of drug is needed in 5 μl ethanol, then 30mililiters would contain 6 mM drugX, if you know the Mol.wt. of your drug, it is much easy to convert mM into whatever you want... as 1M is equal to the mol. wt. in grams dissolved in 1L water...

A 0.2M solution of a substance with Mw=1202g/L will be
either 240.4g for 1 liter
or 7.2 g for 30ml

You should multiplyX1000 to obtain mmol/ml, and then multiply the mmol X molecular weight to obtain mg.
