I'm having difficulties collecting our fibers directly on electrodes. Our sol gel is polyaniline/HCSA/PEO in chloroform, collected on a rotating aluminum disc. The fibers deposit fine on the disc. However, when we affix the interdigitated electrodes to the disc, the fibers avoid the electrode, jumping to the side of the disc collector. The electrodes are gold over an SiO2/Si wafer. When we remove electrospin from the sol gels that do not contain polyaniline, the fibers collect OK in the electrodes. Any suggestions for improving fiber deposition would be appreciated!

First of all, you mentioned, the electrodes are gold over an SiO2/Si wafer, with the gold deposited as strips (or leads) over the wafer, is not it ?
are the gold leads are grounded? i.e. are the gold leads lied on the lateral side of the wafer in such a way that they can be grounded ??
The idea is that if the gold leads are not gounded, positive charges (the polarity of the needle) can accumulate over the leads and thus forcing the positivily charged jet to avoid the leads due to the electrical repulsion.
Secondly, you may note that the whole process works when electrospinning the sol-gel which does not contain any portion of PANi, that's because PANi solution is conductive while PEO solution is leaky dielectric meduim !!
Thank you Sliman. Yes, the gold is deposited as thin leads over the SiO2/Si wafer. The leads are not grounded, I will try that and report back.

If you attach a silk like base material on the collector, you can get easily.
I'm sorry that I understand you wrong. I have to think, you can not collect fibers. I want to make a surface coating, I'm taking up the insulator around the electrode for example with transparent tape. Sometimes I do a mask.
