I am working on a heat transfer and pressure drop study on a heat exchanger.I need to measure the inlet and exit temperatures as well as the wall temperatures at different locations along the exchanger length.For wall temperature,I am attaching thermocouples on the wall .However ,I am facing a problem how to accurately measure the Inlet and Exit temperatures of Fluid streams.Anyone working on the same area can help me .Thanks in advance
You should be able to do this with a bare or sheathed thermocouple inserted in the flow, preferably after an in-line fluid mixer. We used this configuration in

I have used k type thermocouple, it also given good measurement but if you want more accuracy then go for sheathed thermocouple.
I suggest to calibrate together the 4 (or more) thermocouples connected to their complete measurement system and not to change the order of connections after that.

It is important to take into consideration the velocity field in order to find the bulk value of the temperature which is the accurate one.
Probably the in-line fluid mixer Mr. Larry suggests creates a more homogenized flow and thermal regime, so the measured temperature after it would be much closer to the bulk values than if you do not apply the mixer. Hence, the in line mixer it would be necessary.

Any type of thermocople /RTD you can used to measure fluid temperature. Even after making thermal bath, you can measure temperature with mercury in glass thermometer.
Among temperature sensors, RTD 1/3 DIN can be a good choice. Apart from the temperature sensor chosen, it is important to calibrate together the sensors of inlet and outlet.
