I want to clean the autoclave, and use it to produce graphene based hydrogels via hydrothermal method. Please help. Also, tell me the approximate time it may need to clean.
Actually the person who had used it earlier, had deposited Ti02 particles in it and not cleaned it for a long time. So,the particles were sitting tight at the bottom.Nothing seemed to work.I used IPA,Acetone, even aqua regia...but at last I was able to clean it using HF for about 5 hrs.Ya the internal surface will become yellowish. But that is ok,as long as there is no contamination.Anyway, thanks for advice.Problem solved.
"A 2 or 3 percent solution of the sodium salt of EDTA (ethylenediamine tetracetic acid) has been found to be effective in removing heavy metal ions from Teflon liners." See the attached OM from Parr for further details.
Placing the Teflon liner into diluted nitric acid solution (~5%) for few hours is also used by some users.
