Fusarium solani is no longer a single species but a species complex comprising many phylogenetic species, several of which have been described to new species and given new names. Can we specify if this is one of the newly described species, or at least pinpoint to a specific phylogenetic species?
If you have a laboratory strain of this organism, It would be good to carry out some molecular analysis (e.g., rRNA, mitDNA or maybe another macromolecule) and to compare your result with the literary data.

I do not know anything about Fusarium, but a correction to the reviewer's comment seems necessary: If Fusaruium solani was a single species in the time of Linnaeus (and before), then it is so also now; or, if it was a species-complex earlier, it is also now: it is extremely unlikely that it passed the radiation in the last years. If so, it cannot be "no longer" a single species: it can at most be now considered (by whom? by this referee? by XY? by "public opinion"?) a complex, what does not oblige anybody to agree!
I don't know Fusarium but it appears to me that you have used a name that applied to a wider species concept but has recently been restricted. You should explain, which species concept you are using here, as the name alone is no longer unambiguous. If there are no morphological characters to distinguish the now recognized species that were formerly bundled under the name F. solani, then you may have to use genetics to determine which species you have.
