I`m analyzing some DCs that produce high amounts of IL-12 that can induce strong T cell response (IFNg production), but in some tumors this can be a non desired result. my model is in breast cancer.
IFNg has two faces - tumor promoting or suppressive activity (Zaidi and Merlino, 2011; Ni et al., 2017) depending on the context. This statement is true for many other cancer-associated genes/proteins as well. This phenomenon is known as antagonistic functional duality of cancer genes (Stepanenko et al., 2013).
