With regard to HepG2 cells, does anyone know truly what the real expression of cyp2e1 is, if any? I am trying to establish a reliable dose response study of EtOH and APAP in vitro and want a cell line that has good expression. Most of the lit is showing a ton of work done with HepG2 but I am not convinced those studies are valid in the absence of good expression. Primary liver cells are expensive and difficult to grow in the lab?

Okay granted, I guess I'll start off with is there any expression at all. Does it make sense for me to do cytotoxic assays on a cell line that doesn't metabolize the drugs I'm using that's all. Does anybody have any better cell lines do you know of
