I am looking to suppress lateral root growth with quercetin. However, I have been unable to find a good starting concentration to try. Similarly, what is the best solvent to dissolve quercetin and what stock concentration can be made? Thanks
I didn't use quercetin as lateral root inhibitor, however I use it for another target. So. I can help you to answer the question of solvent.
Quercetin is soluble in alkaline water (staring from pH = 9 or 10). For me, I used ammonium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide as alkali agents and pH 10 was optimum for making a good solution.
In addition, it can be dissolved in other organic solvent like ethanol, isopropanol (I use isoparopanol and t gives me a good solution).
