Only today we, attended a boy of 7-8 months old, suffering from Trans sphincteric Fistula since 3 months, though the track is radial & complete.This is rare to us. Previously we treated a youngest child suffering from anal fistula was 6 yrs of age. please do comment on it !

Fistula in ano is not so uncommon in this age gp
Thank you Dr Jethwani, kindly share your experiences, as in the age group of 5-8 months Infants, transsphinteric Fistula even any other type of Fistula seems some uncommon to me.

I have series of 136 pts wid 2 yr follow up 26 pt less than 3 yr age gp . 8 pt of 4- 8 months ( courtsey my pd sx friend)
Though it is uncommon in this age gp but not so rare (i was at a tertiary health care centre at delhi) 2 infants were immunocompromised with high fistula in ano
This is a rare presentation because anorectal infections are generally uncommon in this age group. Results of management are not likely different from that in adults.
Perineal Fistula in kids under one year do not need any surgery.There is the tendens to resolve with conservative treatment,
I agree with Prof Allaghi. Most of the cases solve with conservative treatment in the first two years

Thank you very much for participation. We treated this patient by doing Incision & drainage and followed by Ksharsutra ( a type of seton ). Patient is still under followup and seems cured. Thanks to all
