Hello, I would really appreciate any kind advice or suggestion. I’m shear exfoliating graphite to graphene via pluronic f127 and water. The total mixture is 180 ml of water. Surfactant used is pluronic f127 ( 1 wt%) while graphite is also used (1 wt%).
After exfoliating the graphite, the product (graphene) is centrifuged and the precipitate is washed via water and filtered via filter paper in order to remove surfactant. Then, using tga, i noticed that the samples taken every hour have approximately the same thermogravimetric characteristics (tga). Is there any way to improve the exfoliation so that I can get better product samples which will show when characterized via tga? “ should i use more surfactant?????”

But if you want to get graphene in aqueous solution, then try using alkylaromatic sulfonic acids: butylbenzenesulfonic acid, octylbenzenesulfonic acid... The sulfo group penetrates well between the planes of graphite and destroys its graphite to graphene.
Yuri Mirgorod Thank you Professor. Yes since I'm using water and the nonionic surfactant pluronic f127, so I want graphene in aqueous solution.
After exfoliating graphite into graphene, how can I remove the butylbenzenesulfonic acid or octylbenzenesulfonic acid from the precipitate product for TGA characterization? Can I use filter paper or I need to wash it with a specific solvent? Thank you again!
