The work of Ludwik Fleck (1896-1961) on "Denkkollektiv" (or thought collectives) is all too often overlooked, forgotten or even unknown. Such thought collectives can be viewed as forms of intellectual censorship that favour the interests of the institution.

Looked up the work of Ludwik Flek. It has important implications for research today.

What needs to be discussed is the "targetted nature of ongoing research" being done in 'assemblyline manner" where the product mostly has economical value and the corporatisation of science breeds bureacratic overlordship.

Needless to say there would be places/situations where this does not hold true.

Good scientific ideas begin in the mind of an individual usually irrespective of place, or style of or lack if institution, eg under apple trees.

If the science idea is coming from solving the real world problem or explain the real world mystery will be good. A new idea can generate economic drive. However, the money driven research does harm the research and the real world if the research result is a negative outcome. But not be hoisted reported. It does not matter the fund is from a private industry or from a government fund. If the government fund that coming from the tax is misused to support the powerful party, it is worse than a private fund to do a research to really solve the root problem of the real world.

It's not the money resource problem. It's the background intention counts.

Honesty is the best policy when there is money in it.
