So, I have made nanoparticles capped with oleic acid and want to do their ftir but the problem i am facing is that i am unable to get them to dry because of the polymer (they are dispersed in toluene). What alternatives you guys suggest me to do. We have a ATR-FTIR.

Since you are using FTIR-ATR, just drop a small amount of your sample on the FTIR-ATR diamond. Then, you can directly run the analysis. No drying is needed.
But if you try to find how to take out your nanoparticles from the toluene, I am sorry. I am not sure.
You dont need to dry the sample. The difference between dry sample and liquid sample FTIR analysis is thar in dry sample you make a contact with the sample but in liquid sample just create a distance between the sample and the thimble.
I tried with liquid sample as well bu tit didn't give me good results, the peaks were very faint.
Did you subtract the spectrum of toluene (collected on the same instrument under the same conditions at the same time you collected your sample) from the spectrum of your analytical sample? Did you collect the spectrum under conditions to optimize the signal to noise? Both of these approaches should give you a decent spectrum if the concentration in your solution is >~0.1%
The ATR-IR technique is good for your measurements. Nevertheless, it is not a simple technique, you must be patient. You do not need to dry the sample during registration. You can register reference spectra (in your case toluene) and then record the spectrum of the polymer against it. It is also possible to register the spectrum of toluene as the spectrum of the sample and manually subtract this spectrum from the spectrum of the polymer. Everything depends on what you want to see in the spectra, what information you want to get. The height of the band depends on the concentration. If you have a low sample concentration in solution, you will have a small spectral intensity.
