Free thiol in structure, how to proceed for amide coupling?

I'm trying to do a coupling reaction between a carboxylic acid and an amine. However, my acid has a free thiol group in the structure, which I cannot remove.

Is there any selective coupling agent that does not react with the thiol group?

Or what other path can I try?

Protection of the thiol group is not an efficient alternative.
