Does thiol group survives after arylation reaction between 4-amino-thiol phenol and nanodiamond?

Dear Friends,

I would like to functionalize nanodiamond using 4-amino-thiophenol. For this purpose, arylation reaction was employed to attach this compound to the diamond through NH2 side. I was wondering whether the thiol group survives after the reaction as I have to increase the temperature to 80 C. Thank you so much in advance.

This will depend on the conditions. oxidative conditions will probably turn -SH into something else (-SO2H or -SO3H). base might result in a nucleophile reaction, but may just make the thiolate reversibly. Acid is least likely to change the -SH. The S-H stretch can be seen in the IR at about 2600 cm-1 but it is a weak band.
